Editorial standards and commercial links

What a guide is based on

Vinabox distinguishes first-hand experience, sourced factual research and editorial suggestions. A manufacturer’s specification is identified as such. We do not call a comparison a hands-on test without evidence of that work, or attribute a British tasting to Jeremy when it took place in France.

Food matches and descriptions of wine styles are useful starting points rather than universal verdicts. A grape variety alone cannot establish the quality or flavour of a particular bottle.

Commercial links

This edition carries no affiliate links. The ordinary merchant links on this site earn Vinabox no commission. They do not imply that the merchant sponsors Vinabox, that a discount is available or that Vinabox has checked every delivery postcode.

If affiliate advertising is introduced, it must be recognisable before a reader engages with it. A prominent "Ad" label and a plain explanation of the commission arrangement must appear where needed. A disclosure hidden in a footer or an unexplained "affiliate" label is not the intended approach.

Prices and comparisons

A quoted price identifies its currency, source and check date. Bundle contents and conditions matter: a single-bottle price is different from a conditional case price, and an in-bond quote is different from a duty-paid retail price. Delivery, VAT treatment and stock need checking before an offer is relied on.

We do not create discount codes or announce a promotion without verified terms. A manufacturer price is a dated observation, not a promise of the final checkout total or the lowest price in the market.

An adult audience

This edition is intended for people aged 18 and over. Wine advertising must not target under-18s or encourage excessive consumption. Our image choices avoid people drinking or playing a significant advertising role whose age could fall below the applicable CAP standard. An age acknowledgement alone would not replace responsible audience targeting.

Alcohol and health

No level of alcohol consumption has been established as free of health risk. We do not recommend wine for health, fitness, weight loss, mood or social confidence. Choosing not to drink is always compatible with reading a wine guide. The NHS provides advice and support on alcohol.

The UK guideline of no more than 14 units a week on a regular basis is advice on keeping risk lower, not an allowance to use up or a safe threshold. We avoid language that encourages readers to drink more in order to use equipment, avoid waste or complete a tasting.

Corrections
